Composite bonding in Denton: reshape your smile in one visit

Composite bonding is a simple, effective way to improve the look of your teeth, often in a single appointment. At Thornley Park Dental in Denton, we use a tooth-coloured resin to repair chips, close small gaps and reshape uneven teeth, with minimal or no removal of healthy tooth structure. Patients visit us from across Denton, Gorton, Dane Bank, Audenshaw and the wider Manchester area.

What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a treatment where we apply a tooth-coloured resin to the surface of your teeth and carefully sculpt it to blend in naturally. Because the material is built up directly on the tooth, it is quick, minimally invasive and doesn’t need the laboratory work that veneers do.

What can composite bonding fix?

  • Chipped or worn tooth edges
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are short, uneven or slightly misshapen
  • Marks or discolouration that whitening can’t remove

If we think another treatment would suit you better, such as teeth straightening for crowding, we’ll explain why.

What happens during treatment?

  1. Consultation. We look at your teeth, take clinical photos and agree what you’d like to change. Our new patient consultation includes photos, X-rays and a scan.
  2. Shade matching. We choose a resin shade that matches your natural teeth.
  3. Shaping. The tooth surface is lightly prepared, then the resin is applied in layers and sculpted to the shape you’ve agreed.
  4. Setting and polishing. Each layer is hardened with a special light, then polished for a natural, smooth finish.

Most treatments take a single visit. Larger smile changes can take longer, and we’ll tell you at your consultation.

How much does composite bonding cost in Denton?

The cost depends on how many teeth are treated and how much reshaping is needed. As a guide from our fee guide:

  • Diastema (gap) closure: £450
  • SmileFast composite bonding: £2,200 to £4,400
  • New patient consultation (includes clinical photos, X-rays and a scan): £90

Bonding on individual teeth is priced after your consultation, once we have agreed which teeth to treat, so there are no surprises. Our treatments are supported by the SmileSafe 5-year warranty (terms and eligibility apply), which can cover the cost of corrective treatment if a procedure fails within five years. Composite bonding or veneers?

Both change the shape and colour of your teeth, but they work differently. Bonding is built directly on the tooth, usually in one visit, and needs little or no tooth preparation. It can be repaired or adjusted later. Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory, take more than one visit and generally resist staining for longer, but they involve more preparation of the tooth. We’ll go through the options with you at your consultation and recommend what we think suits your teeth and budget. Veneer prices are in our fee guide.

How long does composite bonding last?

With good care and regular dental visits, bonding can last several years. Composite can pick up stains from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking, and it can chip if you bite hard objects, so a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid biting your nails, pens or ice
  • Don’t use your front teeth to open packets
  • Keep up regular check-ups and a visit to our hygienist to polish and keep it looking fresh

If a bonded edge chips, it can often be repaired without starting again.

Align, Bleach, Bond: a complete smile makeover

Composite bonding works especially well alongside other treatments. Our ‘Align, Bleach, Bond’ protocol combines teeth straightening, teeth whitening and bonding to reshape, brighten and finish your smile. Whitening is normally done before bonding, so the resin can be matched to your final shade. See our other cosmetic dentistry treatments.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

Not at all. Most cases don’t even require anaesthesia. It’s gentle and comfortable from start to finish.

How long does it last?

With good care and regular dental visits, bonding can last several years. Avoiding habits like nail biting or chewing pens helps keep it looking its best.

Will it look natural?

Yes – we colour-match the resin to your natural teeth, so it blends seamlessly. Most people won’t even realise you’ve had it done. Composite bonding is often combined with orthodontics (teeth straightening) and whitening with our ‘Align, Bleach, Bond’ protocol; a very powerful trio of treatments designed to completely makeover your smile.

How much does composite bonding cost in Denton?

Closing a gap (diastema closure) is £450, and our SmileFast composite bonding for a full smile is £2,200 to £4,400. Bonding on individual teeth is priced after your consultation, once we have agreed which teeth to treat. See our fee guide for more.

How long does composite bonding take?

Many treatments are completed in a single visit. Treating several teeth, or combining bonding with straightening or whitening, takes longer, and we’ll explain the timeline at your consultation.

Does composite bonding damage my teeth?

Bonding is a minimally invasive treatment. The tooth surface is lightly prepared and the resin is bonded on, with minimal or no removal of healthy tooth structure. It can also be adjusted or repaired later.

Can composite bonding stain?

Yes, composite can pick up stains from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking over time. Regular hygiene visits help keep it polished, and a stained edge can often be repaired or refreshed.

Should I choose composite bonding or veneers?

Bonding is usually quicker, needs little or no tooth preparation and can be repaired. Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory and tend to resist staining for longer, but they involve more preparation. We’ll recommend the best option for your teeth at your consultation.
