How Much Does Composite Bonding Cost in the UK? (2026 Guide)

The short answer

Composite bonding costs depend on how many teeth are treated and how much reshaping is needed. At Thornley Park Dental in Denton, Manchester, closing a gap is £450 and SmileFast composite bonding is £2,200 to £4,400.

Bonding on individual teeth is priced after your consultation, so there are no surprises.

How much does composite bonding cost?

Composite bonding is priced according to the number of teeth and the amount of reshaping needed, so a single chipped tooth costs less than reshaping several teeth across your smile.

A ‘from’ price only tells part of the story, so when you compare quotes, ask who will carry out the treatment, how long the appointment will be, and what happens if the bonding chips later on.

What affects the price of composite bonding?

How many teeth

The more teeth, the more time and material.

Size and complexity

Repairing a small chip is simpler than closing a gap or reshaping a tooth.

Preparation

Some patients have a hygiene appointment or teeth whitening first, so the resin can be matched to their final shade.

Time needed

Most treatments take a single visit, but larger smile changes can take longer.

Aftercare

Bonding can pick up stains or chip over time, so regular check-ups and hygiene visits help keep it looking fresh.

What happens at a composite bonding appointment?

1

Consultation

We look at your teeth, take clinical photos and agree what you’d like to change.

2

Shade matching

We choose a resin shade that matches your natural teeth.

3

Shaping

The tooth surface is lightly prepared, then the resin is applied in layers and sculpted to the shape you’ve agreed.

4

Setting and polishing

Each layer is hardened with a special light, then polished for a natural, smooth finish.

Composite bonding vs veneers: which costs more?

Both change the shape and colour of your teeth, but they work differently. We’ll go through the options with you at your consultation and recommend what we think suits your teeth and budget. Veneer prices are in our fee guide.

Composite bonding

✓ Built directly on the tooth

✓ Usually done in one visit

✓ Needs little or no tooth preparation

✓ Can be repaired or adjusted later

Porcelain veneers

✓ Made in a laboratory

✓ Take more than one visit

✓ Generally resist staining for longer

✓ Involve more preparation of the tooth

How long does composite bonding last?

With good care and regular dental visits, bonding can last several years. Composite can pick up stains from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking, and it can chip if you bite hard objects, so a few habits help it last:

Keep it looking its best

✓ Avoid biting your nails, pens or ice

✓ Don’t use your front teeth to open packets

✓ Keep up regular check-ups and a visit to our hygienist to polish and keep it looking fresh

If a bonded edge chips, it can often be repaired without starting again.

Is composite bonding available on the NHS?

The NHS covers treatment that is clinically necessary to keep your mouth healthy, so bonding done for cosmetic reasons isn’t usually available on the NHS. Thornley Park Dental is a private dental practice.

Can I spread the cost?

Our membership page explains our practice plan, which spreads the cost of check-ups and hygiene visits, and the flexible finance options we offer with Medenta.
